Abstract

This chapter is on Program Management. A program is a set of projects with a common scope. The evolution of PgM is delineated, from the aerospace and military origins to modern and future PgM. A significative experience (Aviano 2000) is presented. The chapter is written by a Program Officer.

This chapter has been written by Gary LaGassey, USAF Colonel (Ret.), MBA from University of Maryland. He currently serves as Southern Region International Affairs Advisor for the United States Air Forces in Europe. From 1998 to 2004, he managed “Aviano 2000”, at the time the largest base reconstruction program ($530 million, 264 projects) in the U.S. Department of Defense.
