Zusammenfassung
Wie nehmen wir unsere eigene Persönlichkeit wahr, und wie möchten wir anderen gegenüber erscheinen? Wie werden unser Selbstbild und unser Selbstwert durch den Eindruck anderer von uns geformt, und wie versuchen wir, diesen Eindruck durch Selbstdarstellung zu beeinflussen? Wieso glauben wir, zu wissen, wer wir sind, obwohl unser Verhalten und die Rückmeldungen unserer Umwelt hierüber alles andere als stabil sind? Warum können Narzissten einen übersteigerten Selbstwert fern jeder Realität aufrechterhalten und trotzdem in vieler Hinsicht erfolgreich sein? Diese Fragen stehen im Mittelpunkt dieses Kapitels, das sich mit dem Bild der eigenen Persönlichkeit und den vielfältigen Prozessen der Selbststabilisierung und Selbstdarstellung beschäftigt.
