Zusammenfassung
Am 9. November 1977 durchbrachen zwei britische Wissenschaftler eine biologische Schallmauer und veränderten die Menschheit damit für immer. Robert Edwards und Patrick Steptoe, mit denen wir weiter vorne im Buch schon Bekanntschaft geschlossen haben, war es gelungen, in einer Petrischale im Labor einen gesunden menschlichen Embryo zu erzeugen. Dieser Embryo wurde der Mutter erfolgreich eingepflanzt und entwickelte sich zu einem Kind.
