Zusammenfassung

Die heutige Form der Bodyplethysmografie (Ganzkörperplethysmografie) geht auf die Einführung der Methode durch DuBois (USA) im Jahr 1956 zurück. In den 60-er Jahren wurde die Methode in Deutschland von W. T. Ulmer etabliert und seither maßgeblich weiterentwickelt. Heute gilt die kombinierte Spirometrie/Bodyplethysmografie als Basismethode der Lungenfunktionsprüfung in der ambulanten und stationären pneumologischen Fachversorgung.
