Zusammenfassung

Dieses Kapitel befasst sich mit der Wahl eines Berufes als eine der bedeutsamsten Entwicklungsaufgaben der Jugend in Industrieländern. Nach einer kurzen Einleitung, in der Herausforderungen der Berufswahl skizziert werden, stellen wir das Konstrukt der Berufswahlreife bzw. Berufswahlbereitschaft vor. Im Weiteren beschreiben wir drei zentrale Modelle und Theorien zur Berufs- und Studienwahl und gehen dann auf Befunde zum Einfluss der Eltern und Gleichaltriger, des Geschlechts und verschiedener Persönlichkeitsmerkmale auf die berufliche Entscheidungsfindung ein. Da die Wahl eines Berufes ein Prozess ist, bei dem Jugendliche Unterstützung bedürfen, schließen wir das Kapitel mit der Vorstellung ausgewählter Maßnahmen der Berufsorientierung.
