Zusammenfassung
Ultraschall hat, im Gegensatz zur Akustik im hörbaren Frequenzbereich besondere Eigenschaften und wird deshalb in zahlreichen und sehr verschiedenartigen Gebieten in Medizin, Technik und auch dem alltäglichen Leben angewandt. In diesem Beitrag werden die technischen Grundlagen und Besonderheiten des Ultraschalls erläutert und auf Erzeugung und Messung von Ultraschall wird eingegangen. In weiteren Abschnitten kommen Eigenschaften des Schallfeldes und Kavitation zur Sprache. Im zweiten Teil des Beitrags werden einige wichtige Anwendungen von Ultraschall in Medizin und Technik dargestellt.
