Zusammenfassung
Dieses Kapitel eröffnet den Horizont, vor dessen Hintergrund ein vertieftes Verständnis der Wirtschaftspsychologie aufgebaut werden kann. Dazu werden zunächst die Bezüge zu den Mutterdisziplinen Psychologie und Ökonomie hergestellt, dann wird eine Orientierung über die Vielfalt der Themen gegeben, mit denen sich die Wirtschaftspsychologie befasst. Dabei wird klar, dass sich die Themen der Wirtschaftspsychologie in drei Bereiche gruppieren lassen: Konsum, Werbung und Markt; Arbeit, Organisation und Personal sowie Geld, Gesellschaft und Entwicklung. Ein Überblick über die historische Entwicklung zeigt auf, weshalb die Wirtschaftspsychologie in Forschung und Anwendung einen zähen Start hatte, heute aber eine große Nachfrage verzeichnet. Die wechselvolle Geschichte der Wirtschaftspsychologie ist zugleich Zeugnis ihrer Nützlichkeit wie auch ihrer künftigen Unabdingbarkeit.
