Zusammenfassung

Suizidalität ist eine häufige Komorbidität psychischer Erkrankungen. Todeswünschen und Suizidideen sollten Therapeuten immer nachgehen – die Abklärung suizidalen Erlebens und Verhaltens hat grundsätzlich Vorrang vor allen anderen therapeutischen Aufgaben. Therapeuten sollten sich hierbei als verlässliche Partner im Umgang mit der Krise anbieten und darauf abzielen, den Patienten zu einer (erneuten) Auseinandersetzung mit seinen Todeswünschen zu motivieren. Darüber hinaus sollten Interventionen und Rahmenbedingungen genutzt werden, die eine Kontrolle suizidaler Impulse ermöglichen bzw. sicherstellen. Die weitergehende Behandlung von Personen nach suizidalen Krisen sollte nicht ausschließlich mit Blick auf komorbide Erkrankungen ausgerichtet werden, sondern immer eine therapeutische Aufarbeitung suizidalen Erlebens und Verhaltens umfassen. Langfristige Kontaktangebote – über die Behandlung hinaus – scheinen suizidpräventiv bedeutsam zu sein.
