Zusammenfassung
Grundlegendes Ziel jeder Beatmungstherapie ist die Aufrechterhaltung eines ausreichenden pulmonalen Gasaustausches (Oxygenierung des Blutes) und der alveolären Ventilation (Elimination von CO2). Daneben wird die Beatmung für spezielle Zwecke eingesetzt, auch wenn keine primäre Störung der Lungenfunktion vorliegt, so z. B. bei zentralen Atemstörungen im Rahmen von zerebralen Schädigungen (Schädel-Hirn-Trauma) oder intraoperativ im Rahmen einer Narkose.
