Zusammenfassung

Für die AD steht bisher keine kausale Therapie zur Verfügung. Eine Heilung bzw. der Wiedererwerb aller verloren gegangenen Fähigkeiten sind somit keine realistischen Therapieziele. Das Ziel der Therapie besteht darin, die Progression zu bremsen sowie die affektiven und Verhaltenssymptome der Patienten sowie der Angehörigen zu begrenzen bzw. zu lindern. In diesem Kapitel werden zunächst einzelne psychotherapeutische Ansätze und die empirische Evidenz zu ihrer Wirksamkeit vorgestellt. Darauf folgt eine kurze Darstellung neuropsychologischer und pharmakologischer Ansätze, die zurzeit häufiger als psychotherapeutische Angebote bei Menschen mit Demenz eingesetzt werden. Psychotherapeutische Konzepte, die mehrere der psychotherapeutischen Ansätze kombinieren, stellen wir anschließend vor. Das Kapitel endet mit Ergebnissen einer ersten Evaluation des vorliegenden Manuals.
