Zusammenfassung
Doch Klimawandel findet nicht nur weit entfernt im Pazifik statt, sondern auch vor unserer Haustüre. Die meisten Nordseeinseln sind flach und kämpfen mit ähnlichen Problemen wie die Atolle Kiribatis. Hier lässt der Klimawandel schon heute spürbar den Meeresspiegel steigen und bringt damit höhere Sturmfluten. Die Temperaturen werden deutlich milder, Frost wir selten und statt der früheren Herbst- und Frühlingsstürme kommen Stürme jetzt rund ums Jahr vor. Dank anderer finanzieller, sozialer und technischer Möglichkeiten gehen die Bewohnerinnen und Bewohner der Inseln jedoch anders mit den Folgen des Klimawandels um als ihre Pendants im Pazifik.
