Man spricht von einem (Computer-) Netzwerk, wenn mehrere Computer per Kabel oder kabellos miteinander verbunden werden. Dieser Rechnerverbund verfolgt vor allem drei Ziele:
• Datenaustausch (File-Sharing)
• Gemeinsame Nutzung von Ressourcen (Resource-Sharing)
• Kommunikation (Communication)
