Zusammenfassung

Intrakranielle Meningeome entstammen Zellen, welche die arachnoidale Schicht der Dura mater bedecken oder vom intraventrikulären Plexus choroideus herrühren. Meningeome sind die zweithäufigsten hirneigenen Tumoren und in der Regel benigner Natur. Dennoch können sie eine ernstzunehmende Herausforderung darstellen. Beim expansiven oder infiltrativen Wachstum eines Meningeoms der Schädelbasis können Nervenfunktionen gestört sein. Diese Ausfälle führen ggf. zu klinischen Problemen, die die gesundheitsbezogene Lebensqualität der Patienten negativ beeinträchtigen. Bildgeführte stereotaktische Radiochirurgie kann in allen ihren Erscheinungsformen, wie konventionelle oder dedizierte Linearbeschleuniger, Gamma-, und Cyber-Knife, das Meningeomwachstum wirksam behindern und Symptome verbessern. Das hochpräzise nicht-invasives und sichere Verfahren liefert in der primären definitiven oder postoperativen Behandlung gute Ergebnisse und beeinträchtigt die gesundheitsbezogene Lebensqualität positiv. Stereotaktische Radiochirurgie kann ambulant durchgeführt werden und ist kosteneffektiv.
