Zusammenfassung
Erhöhte Cholesterinwerte des Low-Density-Lipoprotein (LDL)-Cholesterins gehören zusammen mit arterieller Hypertonie, Diabetes mellitus und Zigarettenkonsum zu den wichtigsten Risikofaktoren kardiovaskulärer Krankheiten. Ein aktuelles Konsensus-Statement der European Atherosclerosis ociety begründet anhand der Evidenz aus genetischen, epidemiologischen und klinischen Studien die kausale Rolle LDL- Cholesterins für Atherosklerose bedingte kardiovaskuläre Erkrankungen (Ference et al. 2017). Zur therapeutischen Evidenz gehören die Metaanalysen der Cholesterol Treatment Trialists Collaborators (CTT), die eine 21% relative Risikoreduktion kardiovaskulärer Ereignisse pro 1 mmol/l LDL-C- Senkung ergaben (Cholesterol Treatment Trialists Collaborators 2005).
