Abstract
The objective requirements for the development of UHV transmission in China are raised based on the continued rapid growth in electricity demand, unevenly distributed energy resources, and lagged development of power grid. This chapter first discusses the necessity of the development of UHV power transmission in China, and then discusses the development planning and development process of UHV power grid in China, and finally provides a brief introduction of 1000 kV UHVAC and ±800 kV UHVDC projects that have been completed or under construction.
