Zusammenfassung
Seit der erfolgreichen Einführung der Immun-Checkpoint-Inhibitoren steht die Krebstherapie auf den vier Säulen Chirurgie, Chemotherapie, Strahlentherapie und Immuntherapie. Im Fall der Immuntherapie scheint der Behandlungserfolg auf gänzlich neuen biologischen Prinzipien zu beruhen, die nicht nur auf die Zerstörung der Tumorzellen zielen. Eines dieser Prinzipien ist die zelluläre Seneszenz, das heißt der permanente Wachstumsarrest der Tumorzellen. Darüber hinaus überwachen Immunzellen die seneszenten Tumorzellen, wobei neben zellulärem Kontakt lösliche Faktoren, wie zum Beispiel Zytokine, eine entscheidende Bedeutung haben. In diesem Kapitel werden wir das Konzept der zellulären Seneszenz vorstellen und Wege aufzeigen, wie dieses nichttoxische Wirkprinzip in der Aszitesbehandlung genutzt werden könnte.
