Zusammenfassung
Der technologische Fortschritt mit immer einfacher und schneller zu bedienenden Glukosemesssystemen hat deren zusätzlichen Einsatz unter Alltagsbedingungen durch die Menschen mit Diabetes ermöglicht. Um Risiken bei der Bedienung und Interpretation der Glukosemessergebnisse zu vermeiden und die geeigneten Patienten zur Selbstkontrolle zu befähigen, müssen zusätzliche Voraussetzungen erfüllt sein. Zur Selbsttestung der Glukosestoffwechseleinstellung stehen Menschen mit Diabetes zwei Testsystem-Prinzipien zur Verfügung: Die Selbstkontrolle der Urin- und der Blut-Glukosekonzentration. Die Glukosemessung wird standardmäßig als Einzelmessung aus frischem Kapillarblut, in der Regel aus einem Finger oder Ohrläppchen, durchgeführt. Zusätzlich werden auch Messsysteme zum kontinuierlichen Glukosemonitoring angeboten, deren Nadelsensoren Glukose in der subkutanen interstitiellen Flüssigkeit messen mit nachfolgender Umrechnung auf äquivalente BG-Werte.
