Abstract
The long head of the biceps brachii tendon (LHB) has commonly been described as a pain generator of the shoulder joint, whether in isolation or in conjunction with associated shoulder pathology. Research delving into the anatomy of the long head of the biceps tendon, its function, and disease states has led to various techniques to address LHB tendinopathy surgically. In this chapter, we will describe isolated tendinopathy of the long head of the biceps tendon and recognized treatment techniques, including debridement, tenotomy, and tenodesis. There are various methods of tenodesis described in the literature, with frequent debate as to which technique is the best. The decision for which surgical option to perform depends on surgeon proficiency with each procedure as well as patient factors and expectations.
