Abstract
Noncalcified insertional tendinosis is classified as a painful and usually thickened Achilles tendon insertion up to 2 cm proximal to the calcaneal insertion. It can arise from either an insertional calcification, tendinopathy, partial rupture, or an irritation of the bursa (bursitis calcanea or subachillea) (Fig. 9.1).
