Zusammenfassung

Epigenetische Änderungen entstehen durch Umweltfaktoren und Lebensstil. Günstige Umweltbedingungen und ein gesunder Lebensstil haben einen vorteilhaften Einfluss. Epigenetische Prozesse spielen bei Entstehung und Verlauf von Krankheiten eine Rolle, z. B. maligne, kardiale, neurologische undpsychische Erkrankungen, Adipositas und Diabetes. Epigenetische Modifikationen können als Biomarker für die Diagnostik und Prognose einer Erkrankung von Bedeutung sein. Da epigenetische Veränderungen beeinflussbar sind, werden Medikamente entwickelt, die diese Veränderungen modifizieren.
