Zusammenfassung

Wenn die Behandlung maligner Erkrankungen zu einer Langzeitremission bzw. zu einer Heilung führt, können Langzeitnebenwirkungen wie die Neurotoxizität die Lebensqualität des Patienten wesentlich beeinträchtigen. Die Pflegenden können durch gute Beobachtung und Beratung dazu beitragen, dass neurologische Symptome frühzeitig erkannt, medizinische Maßnahmen dadurch rechtzeitig eingeleitet und so lang anhaltende Neurotoxizitäten vermieden oder vermindert werden. Kommt es dennoch zu irreversiblen neurologischen Schäden, können gezielte pflegerische Interventionen und Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Diziplinen, z. B. Physiotherapie, Ergotherapie, den Patienten die Aufrechterhaltung von möglichst vielen Aktivitäten ermöglichen
