Zusammenfassung

Rezidivierende Entzündungsschübe führen bei der chronischen Pankreatitis zu einem bindegewebigen Umbau des Pankreasparenchyms. In der Folge kommt es zu einem irreversiblen Verlust der endokrinen und exokrinen Organfunktion. Neben lokalen Komplikationen (Duodenalstenose, Pfortaderstenose, Pseudozysten und Kompression der Gallenwege) sind chronische Schmerzen und Malnutrition die häufigsten behandlungsbedürftigen Folgen der Erkrankung. Diese führen außerdem zu einer deutlich reduzierten Lebenserwartung der Betroffenen.
