Zu einem gegebenen Maß \( \mu \) und \( \begin{aligned} p \ge 1 \hfill \\ \hfill \\ \end{aligned} \) ist \( {\text{L}}^{p} \left( \mu \right) \) der Raum der Funktionen \( f \), für die \( \left| f \right|^{p} \) integrierbar ist, wobei der Raum der Nullfunktionen herausdividiert wird. Der Satz von Riesz-Fischer besagt, dass \( {\text{L}}^{p} \left( \mu \right) \) vollständig, also ein Banach-Raum ist. Ein wichtiger Spezialfall ist der Fall \( P = 2 \), in welchem man einen Hilbert-Raum erhält.
