Zusammenfassung

Für die Entstehung von Adipositas haben bereits die Rahmenbedingungen vor und während der Schwangerschaft eine zentrale Bedeutung. Die Stoffwechselsituation und das Verhalten der Mutter während dieser Zeit haben für den Lebensweg des Kindes massive Auswirkungen. Die beste Vorsorge besteht also in einer entsprechenden Schwangerschaftsvorbereitung und Planung. Heute wissen wir, dass diesen ersten Lebensjahren für die spätere Entwicklung eines Kindes eine wesentliche Rolle zukommt. Die Risikofaktoren für Kinder, später Gewichtsprobleme zu bekommen, sind insbesondere ein erhöhtes Geburtsgewicht (Makrosomie) sowie ein niedriger Sozialstatus. Hier sind also Eltern, Kinderärzte und all diejenigen, die mit Heranwachsenden in Berührung kommen, auf ganz besondere Weise gefordert.
