Zusammenfassung
Gummi und andere Elastomere sind stark deformierbar, passen sich deshalb gut an Oberflächen an, weisen große Reibbeiwerte in vielen Materialpaarungen (Gummi-Gummi, Gummi-Asphalt, etc.) auf und sind wasser- und hitzebeständig. Elastomere werden daher vielfältig eingesetzt, unter anderem für Reifen, Riemen, Kabel, selbstklebende Schichten und vieles andere. Die wichtigsten Eigenschaften von Elastomeren sind: (1) ein extrem kleiner Elastizitätsmodul (ca. 1 bis 10 MPa, d.h. 4 bis 5 Größenordnungen kleiner als bei „normalen Festkörpern“), (2) eine extrem hohe Deformierbarkeit und (3) innere Energiedissipation (Viskosität) bei Deformation.
Dieses Kapitel ist Kontaktproblemen zwischen einem starren, rotationssymmetrischen Indenter und einem homogenen, isotropen, linear-viskoelastischen Halbraum gewidmet. Es werden zunächst einige allgemeine Informationen und Definitionen zur Beschreibung und Charakterisierung der linear-viskoelastischen Stoffe gegeben. Die folgenden Abschnitte widmen sich der expliziten Lösung von axial-symmetrischen Kontaktproblemen mit der Methode der Dimensionsreduktion (MDR) und der Methode der Funktionalgleichungen von Lee und Radok. Diese Lösungen beziehen sich auf inkompressible Elastomere. Die Behandlung kompressibler Normalkontakte wird gesondert erläutert und abschließend der Fretting-Verschleiß von Elastomeren dargestellt.
