Zusammenfassung

Kapitel 11 und Kapitel 12 befassen sich mit zwei ebenfalls klassischen Themenbereichen der Allgemeinen Psychologie, die erlebnismäßig zwar eng miteinander verbunden sind, in der wissenschaftlichen Literatur jedoch je ihre Eigenständigkeit beanspruchen, wenngleich es auch hier Überschneidungen gibt.

Nach einer Einführung in die verschiedenen Motivationskonzepte werden im Kap. die grundlegenden handlungssteuernden Funktionen biologischer Motivationen vor allem am zumeist verwendeten und eingehend untersuchten Beispiel der Hungermotivation sowie dem der Sexualität dargestellt, und die Rolle von Vererbung, kognitiven und Lernfaktoren erörtert. Nach einer Betrachtung der Hierarchie möglicher Motivationen wird als exemplarisches Beispiel für die Konstruktion kognitiver Motivationsmodelle das der Leistungsmotivation dargestellt.
