Zusammenfassung

Menschen mit Diabetes haben ein erhöhtes Depressionsrisiko – insbesondere bei älteren Patienten stellt dies eine lebensbedrohliche Komorbidität dar. Depressionssymptome sind assoziiert mit Hyperglykämie, mikro- und makrovaskulären Diabeteskomplikationen sowie einer deutlich erhöhten Mortalität. Auffallend ist dabei, dass älteren Patienten bereits bei leichten depressiven Symptomen eine deutliche Risikoerhöhung für Komplikationen und Mortalität zeigen. Die besondere Situation älterer Menschen erfordert ein ihrer Lebenssituation und Leistungsfähigkeit angepasstes therapeutisches Vorgehen, damit auch in dieser Lebensphase depressive Störungen gut behandelt werden können. Obwohl die Komorbidität von Depressionen und Diabetes im Forschungskontext umfassend behandelt wird, liegen Therapiestudien zur Behandlung von Depressionen bei älteren Diabetespatienten kaum vor. In dem vorliegenden Therapiemanual wird ein diabetesspezifisches verhaltenstherapeutisches Konzept vorgestellt, welches speziell zur Behandlung von älteren Menschen mit Diabetes und Depression konzipiert wurde und seine Wirksamkeit im Rahmen einer groß angelegten randomisierten kontrollierten Multicenterstudie belegt hat.
