Die dermatologische Proktologie beschäftigt sich mit den Erkrankungen der Anorektalregion, die Andrologie mit den Funktionsstörungen und Erkrankungen der männlichen Geschlechtsorgane und insbesondere der Infertilität. Beide haben enge Schnittstellen zu den Nachbardisziplinen Abdominalchirurgie und Gastroenterologie bzw. Urologie, Gynäkologie und Endokrinologie.
