Zusammenfassung
Obwohl die Altersgruppe Jugendlicher (10- bis 19-Jährige) als sehr gesund gilt, ist sie doch verschiedenen Gesundheitsbedrohungen ausgesetzt, deren Ursachen zunehmend im Bereich von psychosozialen und Umweltproblemen liegen und weniger im Bereich traditioneller übertragbarer Krankheiten und rein somatischer Probleme zu suchen sind. So wurden über die letzten zwei Dekaden die sogenannten „neuen Morbiditäten“ wie Schulprobleme (Lernschwierigkeiten, Aufmerksamkeitsprobleme, Gewalt in der Schule), Einflüsse der Gewalt in den Medien, Adipositas und Folgen von früher sexueller Aktivität, als die wichtigsten Gefahren für die Gesundheit Jugendlicher identifiziert (American Academy of Paediatrics 2001).
