Zusammenfassung
Mit den gut etablierten Verfahren zur Trichterbrustkorrektur stehen sichere und effektive Operationsmethoden zur Verfügung. In der heutigen, medial geprägten Zeit suchen immer mehr Trichterbrust-Patienten die ärztliche Behandlung mit dem Wunsch nach einer operativen Korrektur. Gerade deshalb ist eine sehr sorgfältige und gewissenhafte Indikationsstellung gefordert. Dies gilt insbesondere, da der psychische Leidensdruck der Patienten häufig nicht mit dem Schweregrad ihrer Trichterbrust korreliert. Zusätzlich sind die Vorstellungen der Betroffenen meist durch Informationen aus dem Internet stark vorgeprägt und unter Umständen unrealistisch. Deshalb ist der behandelnde Arzt umso mehr gefordert, den Vorstellungen der Patienten realistische klinische Einschätzungen gegenüber zu stellen, fundierte Diagnostik durchzuführen und gemeinsam mit dem Patienten und seinen Eltern einen individuellen Behandlungsplan zu erarbeiten.
