Zusammenfassung
Das chronische Unterbauchschmerzsyndrom ist häufig aufgrund seiner Lokalisation in einem besonders sensiblen und intimen Bereich eine klinische Herausforderung und bei den Patienten mit besonderen Befürchtungen und dysfunktionalen Verhaltensweisen assoziiert. Bei bedeutsamen Prävalenzraten und einem hohen Leidensdruck der Betroffenen ist das Syndrom aktuell Gegenstand interdisziplinärer Forschungsbemühungen. Obwohl dadurch mehr Wissen über das Verständnis des chronischen Unterbauchschmerzsyndroms entstanden ist und verschiedene Leitlinien zur Behandlung und Diagnostik vorhanden sind, sind die Kenntnisse über die Erkrankung in der Versorgungslandschaft gering und die Behandlungsangebote begrenzt. Die enge Zusammenarbeit der Organmedizin mit Schmerzpsychotherapie und Physiotherapie ist für eine sorgfältige Diagnostik und Behandlung entscheidend.
