Zusammenfassung

Sehr frühgeborene Kinder sind überproportional häufig von intra- bzw. periventrikulären Hirnblutungen oder einer periventrikulären Leukomalazie betroffen. Magnesiumsulfat vermag das unreife Gehirn vor einer infantilen Zentralparese und Dysfunktionen der Grobmotorik zu schützen. Darüber hinaus reduziert eine verzögerte Abnabelung bei frühgeborenen Kindern die Inzidenz an Hirnblutungen und neonataler Sepsis.
