Zusammenfassung
Sowohl aus Perspektive der körperlich aktiven Person als auch des Gesundheitsexperten ist die Abwägung von gesundheitlichem Risiko und Nutzen körperlicher Aktivität von zentraler Bedeutung. Allgemein ist das Risiko, durch individuell angepasste körperliche Aktivität negative gesundheitliche Konsequenzen auszulösen, als gering einzustufen. Zieht man Bilanz, überwiegt der Nutzen körperlicher Aktivität, der in diesem Buch an zahlreichen Stellen belegt ist, deutlich. Jedoch kann es, trotz statistisch geringer Wahrscheinlichkeit, zu Neben- und unerwünschten Wirkungen kommen. So können neben allgemeinen und krankheitsbezogenen Risikofaktoren z. B. auch extreme Umweltbedingungen eine Gefahr darstellen. Vor allem die Abschätzung der Gefahr für plötzliche Todesfälle im Sport, deren überwiegende Zahl kardiovaskuläre Ursachen hat, ist von großer Bedeutung. Einige Erkrankungen bedingen zusätzliche Risiken bei der Ausübung körperlicher Aktivität. Um Patienten den Zugang zu geeigneter Aktivität zu ermöglichen und eine optimale gesundheitliche Wirkung zu erzielen, ist es notwendig, aktivitätsrelevante Symptome, Begleiterkrankungen oder Nebenwirkungen von Medikamenten zu kennen. Dieses Kapitel soll dabei helfen, Strategien zur Erfassung und zum Umgang mit Risiken körperlicher Aktivität zu entwickeln. Zentrale Punkte sind hierbei die Einschätzung und Reduzierung des Risikos für Unfälle, Überlastungen und kardiovaskuläre Ereignisse sowie der Umgang mit speziellen Einschränkungen und Risiken.
