Zusammenfassung

Die Arthrose ist eine degenerative Gelenkerkrankung, die vorrangig mit Schmerz und Bewegungseinschränkung des betroffenen Gelenks einhergeht. Betroffen sind insbesondere die gewichtstragenden Gelenke der unteren Extremität. Körperliche Aktivität und Sport werden sowohl zur Prävention als auch zur Therapie der Arthrose empfohlen. Verschiedene Untersuchungen konnten eine Steigerung der Gehstrecke, eine Erhöhung der Mobilität und schließlich auch der Lebensqualität zeigen. Ursächlich wird v. a. von einer Erhöhung der funktionalen Gelenkstabilität und einer verbesserte neuromuskulären Kompensationsfähigkeit externer Lasten als Effekt des Trainings ausgegangen.
