Zusammenfassung
Die Analyse der Landnutzung und Landnutzungsveränderung hat in der Regel den raumzeitlichen Kontext zu implementieren. Raum und Zeit dienen dabei der Organisation und Ordnung der den Nutzungseinheiten zugrundegelegten Attribute. Während Querschnittsuntersuchungen das gleichzeitige Wirken der Attributeigenschaften zum Ziel haben, sind es in Längsschnittuntersuchungen die sich im Zeitverlauf verändernden Qualitäten und Quantitäten. In jedem Fall ist dabei die Überlagerung des räumlichen, zeitlichen und attributiven Maßstabs zu berücksichtigen, der aufgrund seiner unterschiedlichen und variablen Bezugsgrößen zu einer Zunahme der Komplexität führt.
Der Beitrag thematisiert diese Komplexitätssteigerung von Längs- und Querschnittsanalysen (LQA), indem er zunächst auf die modelltheoretischen Grundlagen abstellt und dabei auch Bottom-Up-Ansätze (Agentenbasierte Verfahren) sowie Top-Down-Ansätze (System Dynamics Verfahren) beschreibt. Darauf folgend wird die Problematik von analytisch aufeinander abgestimmten Raum- und Zeiteinheiten für LQA skizziert. Einen weiteren Schwerpunkt nimmt die Frage ein, welcher theoretische und methodologische Erkenntnisfortschritt in LQA für die Beurteilung von Landnutzung und Landnutzungsveränderung liegt. Hierbei wird insbesondere auf die häufig unterstellte Kausalität von Zusammenhängen der Nutzung und Nutzungsdynamik eingegangen. Im abschließenden Kapitel wird dann die Rolle der Emergenz, also das Wechselspiel der unterschiedlichen Maßstabsebenen, für LQA besprochen.
