Zusammenfassung
Ist die Information die Grundlage allen physischen Seins und damit fundamentaler als Materie und als Quantenobjekte? Diese Frage wird seit Jahrzehnten in unterschiedlichen Facetten diskutiert. Wir geben einen Überblick über diese Diskussion und ihren Verlauf über etwa hundert Jahre hinweg. Thermodynamik, Relativitätstheorie und Quantenphysik stehen dabei im Mittelpunkt. Auch einige faszinierende Experimente wie das „Welcher Weg“-Experiment, das sich gedanklich bis in die Tiefen des Kosmos ausdehnen lässt, gehören zu diesen Betrachtungen, die mit der Vorstellung der Quanteninformation enden.
