Ich hoffe, der vielleicht ungewohnt klingende Begriff Stochastik hat Sie, als Sie das Inhaltsverzeichnis gelesen haben, nicht allzu sehr erschreckt. Das ist lediglich die zusammenfassende Bezeichnung für die Disziplinen Wahrscheinlichkeitsrechnung und (mathematische) Statistik. Und genau diese beiden Gebiete werde ich Ihnen in diesem Kapitel in ihren Grundzügen vorstellen.
