Optical Waves in Fibers and Components

Abstract

Lightwaves propagate in ideal and nonideal glass fibers as well as in a multitude of functional optical devices. Their mathematics allow describing optical transmission systems and designing components and impairment compensation schemes. Emphasis is placed on optical polarization.
