Zusammenfassung

Unternehmen, in der heutigen Zeit so auch Krankenhäuser, müssen Kundennutzen stiften und als Voraussetzung hierfür nachhaltig Gewinn erwirtschaften. Management bedeutet in der Unternehmenswelt, ein Unternehmen oder Teile davon auf Dauer zu gestalten und zu steuern. Management ist nicht Machtausübung, sondern Funktion. Dieser Management-Begriff wird im vorliegenden Beitrag für den wichtigen Dienstleistungsbereich des OP exemplarisch entwickelt, und einzelne Funktionen wie beispielsweise die Ressourcensteuerung, die Kapazitätsplanung und die Materialwirtschaft werden vertiefend dargestellt. Einige OP-spezifische Management-Herausforderungen werden herausgearbeitet. Dabei wird klar, dass die ökonomische Logik der möglichst effizienten Abwicklung in keinem Gegensatz zu der ärztlichen Ethik steht, dem Patienten eine möglichst wirksame Behandlung unter Wahrung der größtmöglichen Sicherheit und Qualität zu ermöglichen. Der Beitrag will für medizinische Fachleute unter Betonung der professionsbasierten Kompetenzen eine Brücke zur Sprache und Welt der Betriebswirtschaft bauen und weckt hoffentlich Interesse sich weiterzuvertiefen.
