Zusammenfassung

Jedes der derzeit bekannten acht Herpesviren kann mit Hauterkrankungen assoziiert sein, je nach Typ sind bestimmte Läsionen typisch. Alle Herpesviren bleiben nach der akuten Infektion trotz zellulärer Immunantwort im Wirt (Latenz) und sind reaktivierbar. Die möglichen Erkrankungen variieren stark; Art und Ausprägung der Krankheit sind abhängig vom Alter und Immunstatus des Patienten und davon, ob es sich um eine Primär- oder Sekundärinfektion handelt. Triggerfaktoren wie Fieber, Sonnenlicht, Trauma oder Stress sind mögliche Auslöser für Rezidive, was vor allem für das Herpes-simplex-Virus gilt. Zur Therapie stehen verschiedene Virostatika zur Verfügung, in jüngster Zeit sind weitere Wirkstoffe entwickelt worden.
