China’s New Urbanization

Part of the book series: Springer Geography ((SPRINGERGEOGR))

Abstract

This chapter presents a detailed spatial pattern blueprint for China’s New Urbanization future layout. We argue that urban agglomeration will become the dominant spatial form for China’s New Urbanization in the foreseeable future. Based on this argument, the chapter proposes the urban agglomeration-led, major-transportation corridors-supported “axes connect agglomerations, agglomerations support axes” spatial pattern for China’s New Urbanization. Furthermore, collaborative development strategies among various sized cities in China is intensively discussed and outlined for different regions in China.
