Zusammenfassung

Das Burnout-Syndrom hat in jüngster Vergangenheit zusehends an Bedeutung gewonnen. Gesellschaftliche Faktoren sowie steigende Anforderungen im Beruf haben zu einer zunehmenden Inzidenz von Burnout-Erkrankungen geführt. In diesem Kapitel soll nach einer historischen Betrachtung eine Definition des Burnout-Syndroms gegeben werden, bevor schließlich auf die Vor- und Nachteile einer Differenzialdiagnose sowie auf die unterschiedlichen Messinstrumente zur Verifizierung des Burnout-Syndroms eingegangen wird. Ebenfalls im Fokus dieses Kapitels sind die Prävalenz des Burnouts sowie Möglichkeiten zur Prävention und Intervention von und bei Burnout-Erkrankungen. Im Mittelpunkt steht hier die Wirkung körperlich-sportlicher Aktivität.
