Abstract
An important regulator of the constant process of bone formation and resorption is the RANKL/RANK system. This control loop is disrupted in osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by low bone mass and impaired microarchitecture of bony tissue (Baum et Peters 2008, Compston et al. 2013). The receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligands (RANKL) also appears to regulate temperature rises to fight off infection with RANK docking molecules (Hanada et al. 2009).
