Zusammenfassung

Die akute Wundversorgung und die chronische Wundbehandlung gehören seit jeher zu den grundlegenden Kompetenzen des Chirurgen. Im Rahmen der zunehmenden Subspezialisierungen übernahm die Plastische Chirurgie diese Rolle, insbesondere für die große Gruppe der Wunden mit der semantisch unglücklichen Bezeichnung: „Problemwunden“. In die Gruppe dieser sog. Problemwunden (ca. 4 Millionen Patienten pro Jahr allein in Deutschland) fallen Wunden unterschiedlichster Genese, denen gemeinsam ist, dass sie mit gängigen Therapiemethoden nicht in üblicher Frist zur Abheilung gebracht werden können.
