Zusammenfassung
Bei etwa jedem 7. Krankenhauspatienten ist eine Infektion anzutreffen. Während ca. drei Viertel dieser Infektionen bereits bei Aufnahme in das Krankenhaus vorliegen und evtl. der Grund für die Krankenhausaufnahme sind, entwickelt sich ein Viertel erst in zeitlicher Assoziation zum Krankenhausaufenthalt (nosokomiale Infektion).
