Zusammenfassung

Pneumonien stellen noch immer die am häufigsten zum Tod führenden Infektionskrankheiten weltweit dar. Eine am Risiko des Patienten und an der lokalen Erreger- und Resistenzsituation orientierte, frühzeitig initiierte, hochdosierte Antibiotikatherapie verbessert die Prognose der Patienten signifikant. Man unterscheidet bei den pleuropulmonalen Infektionen die akute und chronische Bronchitis, die ambulant erworbene Pneumonie (CAP), die nosokomiale Pneumonie (HAP/VAP) und die Pleuritis.
