Abstract
This thesis aims to develop multifunctional mesoporous silica-based drug delivery nanosystems for biomedical applications based on nano-synthetic chemistry. Multifunctionalization of mesoporous silica nanoparticles includes surface grafting, mesopore modification, hollow-structure construction and the integration of several functionalization strategies. The structure-property relationships of the as-synthesized multifunctional mesoporous silica nanoparticles have been revealed. Furthermore, their extensive applications for enhanced drug loading, improved therapeutic efficiency, molecular imaging and HIFU cancer surgery have been systematically investigated. The main conclusions of this thesis are summarized as follows.
