Urbanization and Locality

Abstract

In 2011, China’s urbanization rate reached 51.27 %, which indicates that the urban population exceeded the rural population for the first time and marks China’s foray into a new development stage of urbanization. At the beginning of 2014, China officially issued the New Urbanization Plan, which made clear the conceptual design and deployment related to the urbanization process (Shan and Huang in Urban Plan Forum 2:16–22, 2013).
