Abstract
This thesis is focused on the investigation of the widely tunable laser generation at novel wavelength bands through the nonlinear optical process in the photonic crystal fibers (PCFs). The PCF-based nonlinear effects of four-wave mixing (FWM), dispersive wave (DW) generation, and cross-phase modulation (XPM) are analyzed and used. The required PCFs are designed and fabricated. Based on the FWM optical parametric gain generated in the PCFs, the very promising optical devices of PCF-based optical parametric amplifier (OPA) and optical parametric oscillator (OPO) are investigated.
