Abstract
This paper discusses Internet Communication Technology (ICT) and in particular social networking in relationship to usage by senior citizens. Social networking as a percentage has been steadily increasing among all age groups including seniors. While the elderly may develop varying physical discrepancies such as auditory and optic complications these should not hinder their abilities to utilize social media devices. Not only does social networking allow for spontaneous intercommunication but for the elderly it can benefit overall wellbeing of the participants. Additionally, physical dexterity may be improved through continued use. It has been readily accepted that lifelong learning can lead to a decrease in mental decrepitude. The overall health benefits go beyond just communicating with grandchildren. Educational institutions and marketing establishments have yet to fully capitalize on the potential of senior social networking.
